Following a recommendation BSAP were appointed by Summers Inman to undertake a project review of the Darwin project for the University of Edinburgh. The project is a redevelopment of an existing campus with in the Edinburgh Universities estate. There are a number of phases of works being commissioned and the Tower & Hive are the 2nd phase. Following on from Phase 1 the university had requested the appointment to the team of a Services specialist who had the design and commercial skill set to Design Audit and Cost this phase of the works.

The scheme is a complicated new build refurbishment and has areas research laboratories and social areas for academic dialogue to take place. The infrastructure to support the buildings had already been upgraded in the phase 1 project but the servicing strategy needed further development to meet the needs of a critical client user and a budget ceiling to be meet before the project would receive formal sign off.

BSAP reviewed the design and scope and then market tested the MEP works to ensure the project value meet the cost parameters that were set, thus giving the university the confidence to move to the next stage of procurement.

The project was then tendered and came with in the cost parameters established by BSAP and is currently in the contract build phase. BSAP have also been commissioned to review Phase 3 BRF.
